The Hiring Process

By: Christopher Robison

In this weeks class, we went over the interview process and what questions to ask as an interviewer. By asking these questions we can further understand what to expect and how to answer when we are interviewed ourselves. To help us understand this process, our class formed groups of two and each person created interviewing questions for the other which in turn needed to be answered. Using Google Forms, we created a questionnaire for our partner asking at least five questions to get a better idea of what they bring to the table and how they react in the work environment.

One of my personal questions was "What is one thing that stands out the most that would immediately tell you to reject a candidate for a position?" The answers I received all seemed to come back to one thing, grades. They would take one look at your resume and if your GPA is lacking then don't expect that call back. Also, when you're in an interview, don't try to be someone you're not. Obviously don't be too comfortable but don't be too formal or robotic or else the interviewee cannot get a good feel for how you truly are.

For our final app smackdown of the semester, I chose the app Spyboy by Shubham Kumar. This app gives a multitude of information on ethical hacking, computer programming, computer security cracking, and software information. This app also has downloadable links for cyber security tools useful for the safety of your own personal items. The greatest thing about this app is that in a recent update, Spyboy has become an open source platform so that users can share their knowledge with the developers through the app.
